WHAT ARE ICING SHEETS?

Edible Cake Toppers are an actual layer of icing that can be printed on using edible ink pressed onto a flexible plastic backing that when applied bonds with the icing on a cake, cookies, cupcakes and other desserts.

Icing sheets are the preferred form of edible paper for use on cakes. They are easy to use and the colours and print quality is by far superior to Wafer paper/card.

Please note that icing sheets are not intended to replace icing, it should be placed onto a type of icing. The icing sheet will then bond with your topping.

We find fondant or butter cream are the best topping to use with Icing sheets. Icing sheets can also be used with non-dairy whipped topping, marzipan, royal icing, and chocolate or even on poured icings like ganache.

Our Icing Sheets:

  • High quality icing sheets will work with dry or wet surfaces, even ice cream
  • Smooth white finish which results in brilliant print finish
  • ‘Easy-Peel’ Meaning they are easy to remove from backing sheet
  • Gluten free, Kosher certified and nut free
  • Suitable for vegetarians and vegans
  • Apply the Edible Cake Topper to the cake as close to use as possible as prolonged exposure to moisture from the icing can affect the print quality (no more than 2 days).

HOW LONG WILL THEY KEEP FOR?

They have a shelf life of one year, but we recommend within a few months once they have been printed.

HOW DO I STORE THE EDIBLE CAKE TOPPER UNTIL I AM READY TO USE IT?

Icing sheets can be printed in advance and then stored with the plastic backing on until ready to use in the zip-loc bag provided to prevent them from drying out. As with other food colorings, edible images can fade if overexposed to UV light. So store in a cool dry place out of direct sunlight.

Icing sheets do not need to be refrigerated; doing so will damage the colours after prolonged amounts of exposure.

WHAT IS WAFER CARD/PAPER?

Wafer paper or card is translucent sheet usually made of rice or potato flour.

Wafer paper is more suitable for cookies or flat surfaced cakes and images will increase in colour intensity and become more vibrant placed onto bright white royal icing on fondant.

The wafer card we stock is premium quality and approximately 0.65mm thick, therefore would be suitable for stand-up images and is less likely to curl if not being placed onto a flat surface like the thinner wafer paper. Images will increase in colour intensity and become more vibrant when applied to icing.

Apply to fondant or buttercream, for the wafer card or paper to stick to buttercream you will need to apply it before a crust forms.

Unlike many supplies our wafer paper and card is pre-sweetened, giving a much more pleasant taste than the standard available.

Will keep for approx 12 months from date purchased, when kept in sealed ziplock bag provided and out of direct light.

Apply to cake as close to use as possible as prolonged exposure to moisture from the icing can affect the print quality (no more than 2 days).
